Keeping the Lights on for a Bright future for Oklahoma

The State Chamber Research Foundation recently brought together Oklahoma energy leaders and lawmakers for a visit of the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) in Little Rock. From touring the SPP control room to exploring grid reliability, transmission planning, and power markets, discussions centered on strengthening Oklahoma’s energy future.

The SCRF’s educational trip gave policymakers a firsthand look at the critical role SPP plays in ensuring reliable and affordable electricity in Oklahoma and across the central United States.

“What an eye-opening experience,” said State Chamber Research Foundation Executive Director Jake Yunker. “We saw how SPP’s team constantly balances generation and transmission across multiple states to keep the lights on for millions of homes and businesses every day. It was a powerful reminder of how essential energy infrastructure is to Oklahoma’s competitiveness and future growth.”
